How to Make Green Chatni

Here’s a simple recipe for making Green Chatni (a popular Indian chutney) that goes great with snacks like samosas, pakoras, and even as a dip for grilled meats:

Ingredients:

1 cup fresh coriander leaves (cilantro)

1/2 cup fresh mint leaves

1-2 green chilies (adjust to your spice level)

1 small piece of ginger (about 1-inch)

1-2 cloves of garlic (optional)

1 tablespoon lemon juice or 1 small tamarind ball (optional, for tanginess)

1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder (jeera powder)

Salt to taste

Water as needed

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Ingredients: Wash the coriander and mint leaves thoroughly to remove any dirt. Chop the ginger and green chilies.

2. Grind the Ingredients: In a blender or food processor, add the coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilies, ginger, garlic, and lemon juice or tamarind. Add salt to taste.

3. Blend to a Paste: Add a little water to the mixture and blend until you get a smooth paste. You can adjust the consistency by adding more water if needed.

4. Add Cumin Powder: Once the chutney is blended, mix in the roasted cumin powder and give it a final stir.

5. Serve: The chutney is ready to serve with your favorite Indian snacks!

Tips:

For a slightly sweet flavor, you can add a small piece of jaggery or sugar.

If you prefer a thinner chutney, add more water while blending.

Enjoy your homemade Green Chatni!
